Spring 2022's Curated Collection of Top 5 Women's Shoe Styles, plum-bottom

Spring 2022's Curated Collection of Top 5 Women's Shoe Styles

If I’m going to be totally honest (and don’t tell the boots) but spring and summer are my favorite season for shoes. In my world, bright colors and open toes equal happy feet. While we’re still in those transitional days where mornings and evenings can be chilly, it’s time to build a wardrobe that can be layered and versatile regardless of the weather.

I’ve put together a collection of shoes that can fit into any person’s closet. With a loafer, a sneaker, a flat sandal, a wedge and a heel you can do everything from running errands to attending a wedding in comfort and style.

This year our collection of loafers is impressive

If your taste runs classic, you’ll appreciate Robert Zur, Bueno or our new Spanish brand, Fluchos. We’ve also got a collection of very trendy loafers (which are also extremely comfortable) from Italian made Di Chenzo or Spanish made Wonders. But my pick for the most versatile loafer is from Atelier. This Italian loafer has a classically styled leather upper, but the sole is in an updated white lug which strikes the perfect balance between a la mode and timeless.

Atelier Italian Leather loafer

Wear this Atelier loafer with jeans, sundresses, or dress slacks and you’ll achieve the effortless casual fashion which defines the 20’s.

Everyday sneakers with extraordinary style

Some days call for something even more casual than a loafer. Increasingly, our daily look involves yoga pants or joggers and nothing but a sneaker will do. The athleisure trend grows each year, with so many new and fashionable choices that we love. ARA, Remonte and NAOT are all popular brands who have done an excellent job exploring athleisure styles. ON offers a fashionable “technical” sneaker that can be worn for even your most strenuous workouts. But it is OTBT sneakers that tug at my heart with their retro vibes, cork footbeds for ultimate support and color combinations that are limitlessly versatile.

Metallic sneakers supply subtle bling.  The Dove/Red/Yellow or Black/Grey combinations have a sock top, making them an easy pull-on style.

Comfort sandals for every foot

As you’d expect for the spring and summer, we’ve got an overwhelming selection of low sandals to choose from at both stores and online. There’s a brand and style for every foot. Gabor has presented some of this season's earliest hits, Remonte always fits the bill when you’re looking for something as comfortable and unique, THINK! Is brand that is new to Plum Bottom and already proving itself to be appreciated for their color and comfort. But when we’re talking about sandals that can be worn everywhere, every day and are perfect for travel, we’ve got to talk about NAOT. Their cork footbed supplies custom support and many of their styles are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association for promoting good foot health.

My favorite new NAOT style, Vesta, adjusts across the instep for a snug fit while having a padded front that gives ample coverage. Since I’m only 5 feet tall, I definitely appreciate the “flatform” style that is essentially flat but offers an inch of cushioned height.

Black and red are always easy to style, but the marigold yellow is calling me with its sunny charm.

Wedge sandals for the win

When it’s time to get a bit more dressed up, but comfort is still an important factor, I’ll always wear a wedge sandal. We’ve got a lovely collection of espadrilles this year, with Toni Pons leading the way. Sorel presents a sporty take on wedges. Long-time customers will certainly appreciate Onex—Italian made and so lightweight and soft. But my personal winner in the wedge category comes from Söfft this year. The day Strathmore came it, I put it on and didn’t take it off. As the name implies, the suede is as soft as you can imagine.

Built on a stacked wooden wedge, it comes in either a dusty blush or moss green. I chose the blush for its skin-tone versatility to blend into any outfit, though moss has been a leading fashion color this spring season.

Dress me up and take me out!

Sometimes a dressier heel is called into action for special occasions. We have beautiful choices for dressy sandals—Dolce Vita offers a plethora of high heel dressy sandals this season that range from neutrals to metallics to bright colors; Pelle Moda specializes in lovely, feminine heels; trendy Vince Camuto bring colorful choices as well as nude and vinyl styles.  But if I could only choose one heel for a special occasion, this season I would pick Tamaris’ strappy high heel sandal. Available in fuchsia, black or white, it’s got a heavily padded footbed, and the leather straps are lined with a soft microfiber that helps keep your foot in place.

For a 3” heel it’s as well-designed and as comfortable as you can get. Wear this for a special event, or with jeans for a dinner out!

With two extremely well-stocked stores in Camp Hill & Harrisburg, the time to get your spring and summer wardrobe ready is now! My top 5 spring 2022 picks cover all your basic (and unique) shoe needs. The further we get into the season, the more items will be sold out so there is no better time to shop our deep selection of summer loafers, sneakers, everyday sandals, fashion wedges and high heel women’s pumps.
