A manufacturer not only makes the pairs that are pre-ordered, but also stocks enough so that retailers can "fill-in" missing sizes or place special orders throughout the season. Often, these are very popular styles that are repeated several seasons in a row from popular brands like ARA, Rieker, Remonte, and NAOT.

Limited-run styles work differently. They are typically produced only when a retailer (like Plum Bottom) places a pre-season order with the vendor. We choose these limited-edition shoes months in advance, often selecting just one or two pairs in each size. Once the shoe is sold, additional pairs are no longer available.
